Semporna Marine Parks only Liveaboard

Semporna Marine Park is made up of the islands (pulau) of Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai & Mataking. Sipadan is the most famous of the islands and is one of the most renowned dive sites in the world. This oceanic island has spectacular wall and drift diving with drop offs plunging hundreds of metres. The upswell of nutrients supplies a large food chain so attracting many large pelagics including large shoals of Barracuda, Whitetip and Grey Reef Sharks. Sipadan's best known site is 'Turtle Cavern' a macabre chamber of skeletons. They belong to turtles and dolphins that were lost in the labyrinth of tunnels, became disoriented and drowned.

While pelagics are the main stars in Sipadan, Mabul & Kapalai are a macro haven for their diversity of tiny marine life. Underwater photographers will have the time of their life in average depths of 10 mtrs with subjects like crocodile, frog, pipe, scorpion, puffer, rabbit, lion, jaw, leaf, cuttle and the colourful mandarin fish. Also on the 'menu' are seahorses, stingrays, octopuses, shrimps and a myriad of nudibranchs. All in all enough to keep that lense clicking all day!

Semporna Marine Park is one of those rare locations that caters for many divers interests be it large pelagics, macro hunting, wall, drift or easy diving. The Celebes Explorer has the advantage over being land based in that it guarantees daily diving around Sipadan. Permits are strictly controlled and resorts are only able to guarantee one day in seven.
